The name “tantalus” is derived from the Greek hero Tantalus who, when invited to Zeus’ table at Olympius, stole ambrosia and took it back to his people and revealed the secrets of the gods. The word “tantalize” comes from this story, as something just out of reach. The three crystal decanters cannot be removed without the top doors unlocked and opened. The upper compartment is sectioned and contains four cordial glasses. The lower drawer was designed to hold playing cards and other accessories. With one key.
